The 8th Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Workshop moved to Shanghai for 2007. During the previous eight years, the demand for oil and gas had become ever greater and application of new and existing technologies were essential to meet production requirements. This workshop focused on ‘Achieving Excellence in Fracture Design’. Topics included fracture design, proppant selection, fines control, proppant flowback control, in-situ fracture conductivity and numerical modelling of fracture performance. Attended by leading practitioners from around the globe, the format of this meeting represented an ideal environment to debate issues, renew acquaintances and further develop networks.

Student Attendance
As part of its commitment to encouraging student engineers, FracTech Laboratories provided places free of charge to presenting engineers and their professors. Students were given 15 minute presentation opportunities, which were judged by the audience and the winning presenter - Lindi Li of the China University of Petroleum, Beijing was presented with an all expenses paid invitation to the 2008 Forum.

The workshop was conducted in both English and Mandarin
